Check out our adhesive Butterfly Bandage Closures or steri-strips, which close shallow skin level cuts. These are an alternative to receiving stitches, but only when the wound is small enough to close up with one of these bandages. They only range from 3/8" x 1-13/16" to 1/2" x 2-3/4", so any deeper laceration will require stitches. If you cannot receive proper stitching immediately, these butterfly bandages will keep the wound closed and may promote a faster healing process.
This product is a quick and easy way to provide needed first aid at home or the workplace. These closure dressings bear excellent adhesion to the skin while not sticking to the wound. We recommend only using these for cuts under 2 inches, however deep it may be. If you have an extremely deep laceration and bleeding continues, we recommend you see a doctor to advise if you need stitches.
Minor lacerations, even deep ones, can be closed with these butterfly bandages if used the right way. To apply, stick the adhesive to one side of the wound and pull the other end across the cut. Make sure to tightly apply the bandage to the exposed laceration so that it can heal and close properly.
Do not use over a movable joint as movement will pull on the wound and the tightness of the closure. Anything over a deep cut on a moveable joint should be covered with a dressing to minimize bleeding and checked out by a doctor.
Before application, clean and disinfect the wound and the surrounding area. If you treat a laceration with a butterfly bandage, leave it on until it falls off on its own or until your doctor removes it. Full recovery should happen within 10-14 days.
